Meg Stuart Documentary

An intimate, visually arresting portrait of pioneering choreographer Meg Stuart, tracing her radical dance practice across continents, generations, and disciplines.

Synopsis:
This feature documentary explores the creative force of Meg Stuart, a trailblazer in contemporary dance whose work has defied boundaries for over three decades. Through observational footage of rehearsals and performances, rare archival materials, and in‐depth interviews with Stuart and her collaborators, the film captures her process, philosophy, and influence. Shot across Berlin, Lisbon, Gent, Bergen, Brussels, and Paris, it reveals the embodied intelligence and emotional charge of her choreography.

Artistic Approach:
The film combines cinéma vérité observation with expressive cinematography and textured archival elements. It reflects the fragmented, improvisational ethos of Stuart’s work, incorporating layered sound design and nonlinear editing to immerse viewers in her choreographic world. It will follow Meg through two creations while incorporating interviews from those on the scene when she emerged in the 90”s to how she influenced the current choreographers and artist of today.

Is a three year developing project that will result in a film for 2027 of the life and work of Meg Stuart.
