Around the Corner (Goa) is the third film in a series of dance films created on the streets after Around the corner (Torres Vedras & Brussels). It’s a dance that uses the city as its inspiration but whose abstract narrative is pushed forward by the relationship between two protagonists and their encounters with each other on the streets. With two screens we create the illusion of multiple street corners across the city. Our two protagonists will tap into their vast choreographic archive to dance with the city which in turn will inspire new improvised movements inspired by the architecture and the people. Filming over one week across the city, there will be an open invitation from the inhabitants to observe or participate depending on their desire. There will be no need for people to do something as their presence will already influence the choreographies themselves. Goa will be our collaborator as thoughts and reflections of the city will become gestures and architecture will become movements.
Around the corner in Goa is a dialogue between two dancers as they navigate the streets of Goa into their body. As they are guided and influenced by Goa’s architecture and the bustling streets of the people themselves, they create a physical dialogue that taps into the subconscious heartbeat of Goa itself.
